Description

A step down transformer is a type of electrical device that reduces the voltage level of an electrical supply. It contains two sets of coils, known as the primary and secondary windings, which are wound around a core made of magnetic material. When an alternating current (AC) flows through the primary coil, it induces a changing magnetic field in the core, which in turn creates a voltage in the secondary coil. The key feature of a step-down transformer is that the voltage in the secondary coil is lower than that in the primary coil.

Step down transformers are widely used in household appliances, electronic devices, and power distribution systems. For example, the power that comes into our homes from the electrical grid is usually at a very high voltage, which is not safe for use in our electronic devices. Therefore, step-down transformers are used to reduce the voltage to a safer and more usable level. This allows us to power our gadgets, charge our phones, and run our appliances safely and efficiently. In summary, step-down transformers play a crucial role in managing and controlling electrical voltages for everyday use.
