Let’s understand it with an example. Imagine you have a toy train set that runs on a 12-volt battery. Now, you want to power the same train set using the regular 220-volt power outlet in your home. This is where a transformer comes into play. You can use a transformer to step down the voltage from 220 volts to 12 volts, making it safe for your train set to operate.

In another scenario, when electricity is generated at power plants, it is at a very high voltage. This high-voltage electricity is not suitable for household use. So, transformers are used to step down the high voltage to a lower, safer voltage for use in homes, schools, and businesses. This process reduces energy losses and makes electrical power distribution more efficient.

Demonstration Transformer Working Model consist of two coils of wire, known as the primary and secondary coils, wrapped around a core, usually made of iron.
