What is Ammeter ?
An ammeter is an instrument used to measure the current flowing through a circuit. It is connected in series with the circuit, meaning that the current must flow through the ammeter to be measured.
Why connected in Series?
An ammeter is connected in series to ensure that it measures the actual current flowing through the circuit. If the ammeter were connected in parallel, it would only measure the current flowing through it, which would not be the same as the current flowing through the rest of the circuit.
